Rolls-Royce’s says repair of Trent 1000 engines will take longer
Rolls-Royce expects problems with its Trent 1000 engines to take longer to repair than anticipated, warning that a reduction in the number of grounded aircraft to single digits would be delayed until the second quarter of 2020. The FTSE 100 group on Friday said that it had accelerated the replacement of intermediate pressure turbine blades for some engines which had led to additional engine removals. The news is a fresh setback for Rolls-Royce, dogged by problems with the Trent 1000 that pushed it into the red last year and soured relations with airline customers such as British Airways, which have had their flight schedules disrupted.
